August 12-13 Taquilla Tickets is taking you to see Spain's first total solar eclipse in 120 years

Castellón de la Plana is one of the best places in Spain to witness the spectacular event, and Taquilla Tickets has put together a great value overnight trip from Murcia

On the evening of Wednesday August 12, 2026, the moon will slide in front of the sun and plunge part of Spain into a brief, eerie darkness for the first time in 120 years.

The last time anyone standing on Spanish soil witnessed a total solar eclipse was back in 1905, and this one is part of an extraordinary trio of eclipses set to cross Spain in 2026, 2027 and 2028, giving the country some of the best front-row seats on the planet for what astronomers are billing as a once-in-a-generation run of events.

Taquilla Tickets is organising an overnight trip from Murcia to Castellón de la Plana, which sits almost directly on the central path of the eclipse and is widely regarded as one of the prime viewing locations in the whole of Spain.

Totality, the moment the sun is completely blocked out, begins at 8.31pm and lasts for one minute and 34 seconds. It doesn't sound long, but anyone who's witnessed a total eclipse will tell you it's utterly unforgettable.

The group will travel to Castellón by coach on August 12, checking in to the four-star Hotel Jaime I with time to explore the city, grab some food and drinks and soak up the atmosphere before heading to the viewing location for the main event.

The following morning, after breakfast, it's back on the coach and home to Murcia. Taquilla Tickets is also in touch with the local Planetarium, which is investing in new equipment ahead of the eclipse, about a possible visit during the trip, with more details to follow.

Prices start at €185 per person for Trips & Giggles Club members sharing, or €189 per person for non-members sharing. Single occupancy is €225 for members and €229 for non-members.

The price covers return coach travel, one night in the four-star hotel with breakfast, transfers to the eclipse viewing location and public liability insurance.
