Barking up the right tree: Dog and pet care businesses are booming in Camposol
It seems like Camposol is really going to the dogs as companies like Paws & Snores and Wagging Tails grow to serve the needs of the community's pet owners

A dog is a man's best friend, but not just a friend; our pets are part of the family. We make sacrifices for their wellbeing, console them when they're upset and, most of all, share the best moments of our lives together.
There is no shortage of dogs and dog-owning families on Camposol, so it's not surprising that there are an increasing number of businesses springing up to cater to their needs.
Deana Fitzmaurice, who has been living on Camposol for six years, started her house-based pet sitting business Paws & Snores two years ago in response to a need she saw among her neighbours and friends who really hated the idea of putting their beloved dogs into kennels, especially in the winter.
“Dogs always prefer to stay in their own home if given the choice, so it was the perfect solution,” she says, “and it also means additional security for your home when you go away as the property is not being left empty.”
Deana was a live-in Kennel Manager at The Noah's Arc rescue centre for two and a half years and became known in the area for her love, care and knowledge of dogs. People naturally ask Deana for help in any situation now with regard to dog behaviour and socialising skills now, because she has so much experience.“One of the things I noticed early on,” says Deana, “is that so many dogs here are from a rescue centre and many have simply not been socialised or even housetrained at times.”
Because of that, Deana felt it was right to develop Paws & Snores into other areas. Now, she runs a very popular friendly dog social club, where likeminded owners and their sociable dogs can come and frolic together three times a week.
Paws & Snores have rented some land next to The Serrano Garden Centre on Sector B to use for the dog social club, which is held on Mondays (all welcome), Wednesdays (puppy club) and Thursdays (big dog club). Best of all, it only costs €5 per dog per session. Winter times are 5pm but change to get a bit later as the evenings get lighter in the spring.
And Deana is not alone. Other residents are also getting in on the action, providing useful services for pet owners on Camposol.
Wagging Tails is a brand-new pet care and grooming company that has just started up on Sector A. Founded by Kayleigh Purcell, Wagging Tails promises pedicures, baths, haircuts, nail trimming teeth cleaning and more for Camposol dogs – a full health, beauty and wellness treatment that all dogs deserve.
Kayleigh has only lived on Camposol for a year but with Wagging Tails she has definitely hit the ground running. Rarely do we see a brand-new business whose appointment book is full, week in and week out! Kayleigh used to work in a vet's clinic, and her experience with dog care stretches back over four years, bringing much needed experience to Camposol. And by all accounts, customers are over the moon with the new service. Kayleigh consistently gets feedback saying how happy both the dogs and their owners are with their treatments, whether it's a one-off spruce-up or a regular nail trimming, wash and de-shedding and a teeth cleaning service. No wonder all the customers have Wagging Tails!

Add these new Camposol businesses to existing ones like the Noah's Arc charity shop and the Andrea's Animal charity shop in Mazarrón Town, not to mention the animal sanctuary just up the road, 500 metres from Sector A, and it's clear to see that the only way is up for pet-based care and organisations on and around Camposol.
