The Muelle de Cruceros is the Cruise ship dock in Cartagena.

Although traditionally a cargo port and a point of commercial trading for over 2000 years, Cartagena has only recently begun to develop a Cruise ship industry.

A new cruise ship port has been constructed alongside the container port, dedicated to specifically catering for this type of traffic, with plans to continue amplifying the facilities and installations available.

The cruise ship terminal is located between the external area of the Puerto Deportivo, the sporting port, next to the building of the yacht club, the edificio del Club de Regatas and the container port.

It offers 344 m of mooring with a depth of 12 m, enabling Cartagenaport to receive the largest cruise ships which exist today. It also has a waterside reception area of more than 3000 m² and four dikes for other boats to moor alongside.

The terminal has parking for buses, a taxi stand and an information point, as well as security entrance to ensure the arrival of the tourists from the cruise ships is as convenient and comfortable as possible.

The cruise ship terminal is very close to the main shopping areas and urban areas of Cartagena, within easy walking distance.The most frequently expressed comment from visitors to Cartagenavia cruise ships is its proximity to the cruise ship dock, and the ease of disembarcation.

From the cruise ship passengers can walk straight onto the Muelle Alfonso XII, which is the main Waterside area of Cartagena, and is a busy, buzzing area filled with bars and restaurants. There is parking underneath the Muelle Alfonso XII, so that any residents meeting friends coming in on a cruise ship can park very close by. ( Click underground parking Cartagena).

From here, it is simply a question of crossing a road and the visitor is in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and on the edge of the main shopping streets in Cartagena.

Immediately entering the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the Palacio Consistorial, and on the corner facing visitors is the Tourist Information Office, from which maps can be obtained.

On the right hand side of the Plaza del Ayuntamientois a salmon-coloured building, which contains the RomanTheatre Museum ( Museo Teatro Romano) and leads into Cartagenas pride and joy, the RomanTheatre, which is the most popular visitor attraction in Cartagena.

Continuing straight on past the Tourist office, visitors enter Calle Mayor, the main High Street, which leads to the main shopping streets of the urban centre, or visitors can choose to take a taxi from the taxi rank which is located at the entrance to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to the out of town shopping commercial centre, Espacio Mediterráneo, which has a wide selection of retail shops and supermarket.

From the Cruise ship port, there are no stairs or ramps, and the road into Cartagenacentre is unobstructed. There is a pedestrian road crossing into the centre, but otherwise it is a 3 minute walk on foot to the nearest shops and restaurants, with pedestrianised streets once across the road and into the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
