Corvera Airport reports double digit growth in international passengers in February
Almost 31,000 passengers travelled through the Region of Murcia International Airport last month

Building on a really strong start to the year in January, the Region of Murcia International Airport, commonly known as Corvera Airport, also made great strides in February, registering a total of 30,670 passengers – that’s an 11.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The bulk of travellers flying to and from Murcia airport came from the international market, which registered 25,124 passengers in February and experienced a growth of 13.5%. In contrast, domestic travel remained disappointingly steady, with 5,388 passengers, similar to the same period in 2024.
While the numbers are encouraging, they still fall short of pre-pandemic levels. In 2019, the airport welcomed 45,149 passengers in February, a significant 15,000 more than this year.
In terms of flight operations, Corvera experienced a notable 34.8% jump in February, with 337 flights taking off and landing. For the first two months of the year, the airport has seen a total of 60,782 passengers, representing an 11.7% rise, and 684 flights, a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The Aena Group, which manages Corvera Airport, reported a record-breaking 20 million passengers across its network of 46 airports and two heliports in February, a 4.4% increase.
In the first two months of 2025, Aena’s flight bases welcomed 49.5 million travellers, a 5.3% rise from the previous year. Additionally, Aena reported 223,083 aircraft movements and 111,790 tonnes of cargo handled across all airports in February, both up 4.7% from last year.
Ryanair bets on Murcia
Ryanair has announced its summer 2025 flight schedule for Corvera Airport, with eight direct routes linking the Region of Murcia to key destinations in the UK and Ireland.
From summer 2025, passengers will be able to fly from Corvera Airport to Manchester, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Dublin, East Midlands, Glasgow, London Luton and London Stansted, providing a range of convenient options for both locals and tourists planning their summer getaways.
