Earthquake hits the island of Tenerife with a 3.2 magnitude shock

The earthquake was felt in more than thirty locations on the island

The National Geographical Institute (IGN) recorded an earthquake yesterday on the Island of Tenerife that measured 3.2 on the Richter scale. The shockwave was felt by many people and in many places on the north side of the island near the epicentre in Puerto de la Cruz.

The earthquake took place at 3pm at a depth of 21 kilometres below the surface. The strength of the shock however was enough for thirty different locations on the island to feel the tremor to varying degrees.

Furthermore, two other earthquakes were also recorded on Sunday in the archipelago, one of them in Buenavista, Tenerife, with a magnitude of 1.5 and a depth of 12 kilometres and the other in Tazacorte, La Palma. With a magnitude of 2.1, it was located 13 kilometres deep below the sea.
