Heavy rain until Sunday: Alicante weather forecast September 19-22
Most of Alicante province can expect showers and falling temperatures this weekend
Weather alerts for heavy rain on Thursday
Storms which have devastated much of central Europe this week have spread to Alicante province, where it’s forecast to be wet and dull until the end of the weekend.
On Wednesday September 18, the municipality of Biar, which has just been named one of the most beautiful towns in Alicante by the National Geographic, accumulated more than 90 litres of rain per square metre.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), Thursday September 19 will also be an "unstable" day, with showers on the coast, mainly in the morning, which will spread inland in the afternoon.
Weather outlook on Thursday
It will be very overcast all day, with daytime temperatures dropping to around 26ºC in most parts.
The northern coast of Alicante and inland municipalities have been issued with a yellow weather alert for heavy downpours.
Daytime temperatures won't fluctuate more than a degree or two on Friday September 20 and the weather warnings have been lifted. Nevertheless, the day will be mostly cloudy and showers are forecast inland.
Weather outlook on Friday
Any sunny spells that managed to make an appearance on Friday will disappear completely on Saturday September 21. It will be very cloudy with widespread rain expected from late morning. Temperatures could rise ever so slightly.
Weather outlook on Saturday
The weather should start to clear up on Sunday September 22, and the skies will be much brighter by the late afternoon. Showers are still a possibility in coastal areas, but they'll be much lighter than previous days.
Night-time temperatures will take a dip but the day should be a little warmer.
Weather outlook on Sunday
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Alicante this weekend
- Thursday September 19: Min 14ºC; Max 26ºC
- Friday September 20: Min 14ºC; Max 28ºC
- Saturday September 21: Min 14ºC; Max 27ºC
- Sunday September 22: Min 15ºC; Max 30ºC
