July 1 Hike along the Rambla del Canar in Puerto de Mazarrón
Spectacular views of the bay will reward participants in this evening excursion
Mazarrón tourism office has organised an enjoyable trek through beautiful surroundings for Tuesday July 1 at 6.30pm.
It will start in the Rambla del Canar watercourse, between the hills of La Panadera and the Cabezo del Plomo.
The route is picturesque with plenty of vegetation thanks to the wetland created by a spring known as the Fuente del Canar.
There will be spectacular views of the coast to enjoy from the distinctive white rock formations of the Peñas Blancas.
This hike is classified as being of medium to low difficulty, covering a total distance of 9 kilometres around a circular route.
The elevation gain is only 5 metres and the duration is expected to be about 3 hours, depending on the participants or other circumstances.
Participants must have their own transport to arrive in and leave afterwards, and the route will finish at the same place it starts, where everyone can leave their vehicles. The location of this meeting point will be revealed to participants once they have registered in advance.
It is advised to bring drinking water (at least one litre per person), enclosed footwear that is suitable for uneven ground (no sandals of any kind) and suitable clothing (check the weather forecast). It is also advisable to bring hiking or Nordic walking sticks.
No pets are allowed.
Any children or teenagers will have to be supervised by their parents, legal guardians or adult companions, who will be responsible for ensuring that they behave responsibly.
Neither Mazarrón council tourism department nor the hike guides will be responsible for any incidents provoked by participants who do not follow an ethical code of conduct.
Every participant must fill in an application form with their personal details, including a DNI, NIE or passport number, and must state if they are a legal minor.
No one can take part without registering in advance.
The hike may be cancelled if there is adverse weather.
To register visit the Region of Murcia tourism website. Details of future hikes, tours and visits can be found on the Visit Mazarrón website.
