article_detailARCHIVED ARTICLE -July 25 Guided sunset visit to the tower of the church of Santiago in Totana
Enjoy the views from the top and learn about life in Totana in centuries past
This Friday evening tour in Totana, in south-west Murcia, takes visitors to the top of the belltower of the parish church of Santiago, which has dominated the centre of the town since the 16th century.A fully qualified local guide explains the architecture and the unusual dual function of the building, which served spiritual and defensive needs, as well as recounting anecdotes which illustrate the daily life of the town in centuries past. In addition, of course, the views from the top of the tower are as impressive now as they were 400 years ago (the tower was added to the church between 1603 and 1608).
The tour begins at 19.30 at the church and participation is free of charge with bookings through the Totana tourist office (email turismo@ayto-totana.net, telephone 968 420112 / 968 423902).
