San Pedro del Pinatar puts feelings at the heart of tourism
‘The Art of Feeling’ campaign blends art, music and food for year‑round visitors
San Pedro del Pinatar is putting emotions, culture and good food centre stage with a new tourism push called "El arte de sentir" (The Art of Feeling), a campaign that invites visitors to discover the town with all five senses throughout the year. It brings together nature, salt flats, beaches between two seas, wellness, gastronomy, culture and events as “a constant source of creativity and enjoyment,” according to the Ayuntamiento. The new strategy will be officially presented at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, one of Spain’s main showcases where destinations present their plans to the travel industry. The mayor, Pedro Javier Sánchez, and tourism councillor Javier Castejón will unveil the campaign on Friday January 23 at the Region of Murcia stand, joined by artist Belén Balibrea, who will paint a live artwork of the municipality during the event.
Culture and family activities form a big part of the plan. During the fair, the Ayuntamiento will outline part of its 2025 cultural and leisure calendar, including the return of Mingo, the town’s mascot, who will promote children’s events and the comeback of the Mingo Fest family festival in May, “a meeting point for the little ones.”
Music and sport also have their moment. On Saturday January 25, San Pedro will reveal part of the line‑up for the fifth Sal de Música festival, running from Tuesday August 12 to Saturday August 16 and bringing together internationally recognised artists for a mix of concerts and comedy. That same day, the new edition of the Pinatarius popular race will be announced, an event that already attracts nearly 2,000 runners each year and has become “a key date for sports enthusiasts,” alongside a performance by Peña El Caldero, a local folklore group with four decades of history.
Gastronomy takes over on Sunday with a salting demonstration and cooking show by Salazones Garre, plus details of the next Paraíso Salado Gastronomic Meeting, scheduled for October. With these initiatives, the town says it is reinforcing “an innovative, sustainable and high‑quality tourism model,” where tourism is a strategic pillar and where landscape, wellness, gastronomy and culture are woven into a single local identity for an increasingly international mix of visitors.
