Storm Harry hits Spain with torrential rain: Weather forecast January 19-22
Spain is in for several days of heavy downpours and treacherous sea conditions

Weather alerts on Tuesday January 20
Following the rain and snow that hit Spain this past weekend, claiming one life in Huesca, Storm Harry, the latest high-impact storm to hit Spain, and a European anticyclone will batter the Mediterranean coast, the southeast of the country and the Balearic Islands starting this Monday.
These weather systems will bring persistent rainfall, heavy snow, strong gusts of wind and waves of up to eight or ten metres.
Monday January 19

The combination of Storm Harry and an Atlantic front will result in very heavy and persistent rain in the northeast of Spain and the Balearic Islands, but the stormy weather will also impact the Mediterranean coast later in the day.
Orange level alerts for torrential rain and dangerously high waves have been activated in the Valencian Community, Catalonia and Aragon, while yellow warnings have been issued in the Balearic Islands and Galicia.
Despite the rain, daytime temperatures will inch up in the Mediterranean, although the mercury won’t climb above the high-teens.
Tuesday January 20

The storm activity will worsen on Tuesday, with the entire east coast of Spain and the Balearics on alerts for driving rain. The heaviest downpours are forecast in the Balearic Islands, Girona, southern Aragon and the coastal areas of Catalonia and the Valencian Community.
Tuesday evening should be milder in the south of Spain but few temperature changes are expected during the day.
Orange level alerts are active in Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Galicia and the Valencian Community. Yellow alerts are live in Andalucia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Region of Murcia.
Wednesday January 21

Although Storm Harry is expected to weaken, rough seas will still affect the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean coast during the early hours of Wednesday. Meanwhile, Atlantic circulation will bring a low-pressure system to Spain, with a front moving across from northwest to southeast, bringing very cloudy skies and widespread rain.
The heaviest and most persistent rain is expected in western Galicia, the Strait of Gibraltar and mountainous areas of the west, but any rain that does hit the Balearics and Mediterranean will be light.
A general rise in daytime temperatures is forecast.
Yellow alerts for rough seas remain active in Andalucia, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Galicia, the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community.
Thursday January 22

All of the weather warnings have been lifted for Thursday but most of the country can still expect very cloudy or overcast skies and widespread, less likely along the Mediterranean coast.
Daytime temperatures should rise and Thursday night will be much warmer in the southeast than previous days.
