Storm Konrad hits Spain this weekend: Weather forecast March 13-16
Rain warnings, sub-zero temperatures and even snow will impact most of Spain this weekend

Weather alerts issued for Friday March 14
Spring still feels a long way off and unfortunately, the bad weather is set to continue this weekend in much of Spain as storm Jana is replaced by Konrad, a new Atlantic front that will sweep in from the west of the country in the next day or two.
Storm Konrad, named by the Portuguese meteorological service, will return Spanish temperatures "to winter, with very low temperatures for this time of year, especially in the case of the maximums," explains César Rodríguez, climatologist at the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Daytime temperatures are set to drop across the country from Thursday March 13, while the nights will become increasingly cooler in the north and along the Mediterranean coasts.
Thursday March 13

Half the country is on alert for every adverse weather condition imaginable on Thursday: snow, torrential rain, thunderstorms, freezing temperatures and strong gusts. The day will be generally overcast with widespread rain, especially heavy in the southwest of Spain and the Balearic Islands.
Temperatures will drop across the board, falling well under 20ºC in most parts.
Yellow weather alerts have been issued in Andalucía, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Madrid, Region of Murcia, Navarra, Rioja and the Valencian Community.
Friday March 14

The low that was positioned over the Iberian Peninsula yesterday will move eastward toward the Mediterranean on Friday, bringing more rainfall, although still widespread, with less intensity along the Atlantic coast. Over the Mediterranean, the Balearic Islands and the Alboran Sea and Strait, rainfall may be locally heavy and/or persistent, accompanied by thunderstorms with small hail.
Daytime temperatures will continue to fall everywhere but the southeast coast, where the mercury will rise ever so slightly.
Yellow weather alerts have been issued in Andalucía, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y Leon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Madrid, Region of Murcia, Navarra, Rioja and the Valencian Community.
Saturday March 15

While most of Spain can expect another wet day Saturday, the rain will be nowhere near as heavy. It will be very cloudy overall although the maximum temperatures will start to creep up, hitting 18ºC or 19ºC in the likes of Murcia and Alicante.
All of the weather alerts have been lifted for Saturday.
Sunday March 16

The conditions of the last 24 hours will continue into Sunday, with cloudy periods across mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, and almost widespread rain.
Both day and night-time temperatures should increase slightly.
