Summery heat all weekend: Spain weather forecast May 28-31
Daytime temperatures will be 10°C above normal but tropical nights return to many parts of Spain

Spain is heading into another blast of early summer heat, with temperatures set to stay far above normal right through the weekend and possibly into next week.
According to Aemet spokesperson Rubén del Campo, much of the country will see temperatures sitting between 5°C and 10°C above average for the time of year, with some parts of northern Spain climbing even higher than that.
"This is the hottest part of the summer, the dog days of summer," he said.

Temperatures expected on Thursday afternoon, May 28
Thursday May 28 is expected to bring another noticeable rise in temperatures across much of the country. Large parts of central and southern Spain, the northeast and areas of the northern plateau are forecast to climb beyond 34°C during the afternoon.
The hottest conditions on Thursday are expected around the Guadiana valley, where places like Badajoz could reach 38°C. Temperatures will also continue climbing across inland areas of the Valencian Community.
By Friday May 29, the heat will intensify further across eastern and southern Spain. Inland parts of the Valencian Community are forecast to exceed 36°C, while Seville and Badajoz could once again approach 38°C. Zaragoza and Lleida may also see similar temperatures.

Average temperatures expected on Friday May 29
The Balearic Islands are also set for an exceptionally warm end to the week, with inland Mallorca potentially reaching 35°C.
Nights are becoming increasingly uncomfortable too. From Thursday onwards, tropical nights are expected in many parts of the Mediterranean coast, the northeast and large areas of central and southern Spain, meaning overnight temperatures may struggle to fall below 20°C.
The only part of the country likely to see some relief will be northern Spain.

Average temperatures expected on Saturday May 30
From Friday and into Saturday May 30, temperatures are expected to ease across the Cantabrian coast as northerly winds arrive. Even so, conditions will still feel warm for the time of year, with cities such as Bilbao forecast to remain around 30°C and Oviedo close to 28°C on Friday.
Elsewhere, the heat is expected to continue throughout the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday May 31, temperatures above 35°C are likely across parts of the northeast, central Spain and the south. Zaragoza and Badajoz could again hit 38°C and forecasters say Seville may even touch 40°C if conditions line up.

Average temperatures expected on Sunday May 31
Alongside the heat, Aemet has warned that there is a small chance of isolated storms developing in mountainous areas, particularly in northern and eastern parts of the country. Some could become locally heavy later in the weekend as instability increases slightly.
A layer of haze could also affect western parts of Spain over the next few days.
