Summery weekend ahead: Spain weather forecast September 11-14
Temperatures are set to soar across large parts of Spain in the coming days

Average temperatures expected on Sunday September 14
The weather front that brought storms to large areas of Spain early in the week began to pull away on Wednesday September 10, so the atmosphere is settling over much of the country. The weekend is already looming and forecasts suggest it will be very warm in most places.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), temperatures will gradually start rising from Thursday September 11. Consequently, highs are expected to top 30°C in large swathes of the country heading into the weekend.

Weather outlook on Thursday September 11
On Thursday, stability will dominate much of Spain though rainfall will linger in the north owing to frontal storms moving through.
By Friday September 12, some thunderstorms will have developed in the north-east, particularly in the afternoon. These could be more intense in parts of Catalonia around Barcelona and Girona, and locally severe in north-eastern Teruel and the Castellón area.

Weather outlook on Friday September 12
The weekend will follow a similar pattern. Conditions will remain stable across most regions, but there will be light rain in the north and chances of thunderstorms in the north-east, while the downpours are expected to be much heavier in Catalonia on Saturday September 13.
In general though, the outlook is for clearing skies and stability as the air mass over Spain is replaced by a more temperate Atlantic one. All these factors together will drive temperatures higher.

Weather outlook on Saturday September 13
From Thursday onward the mercury will climb around the country. Temperatures could reach 30°C in many parts of Andalucia, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha and Madrid. Elsewhere, most areas will see temperatures above 25°C apart from parts of the north, especially near the Cantabrian Sea.
On Friday and into the weekend the warming will intensify. In southern parts temperatures are likely to exceed 35°C. Inland many regions will see 32-33°C and 30°C will be common in areas such as the Ebro valley and Castile and León.

Weather outlook on Sunday September 14
Saturday and Sunday will be broadly similar, although Sunday September 14 will stand out as the hottest day of the week. Córdoba and Sevilla could see temperatures above 36°C. Badajoz is expected to hit about 35°C, with cities like Madrid and Toledo reaching around 31°C.
