The heat is back with a vengeance: Spain weather forecast June 8-11
Temperatures could push close to 40°C in the south this week as northern Spain gets a much cooler ride

Average temperatures expected on Wednesday June 10
After a brief respite, the heat is making a very determined comeback across much of Spain this week. Temperatures are set to climb well above seasonal averages across the centre and south of the country, with some areas in the southwest potentially nudging close to 40°C by midweek.
The north is a different story, with cooler air keeping things much more manageable along the Cantabrian coast and into the Pyrenees, where there's also a chance of some rain early in the week.
Nights are going to be warm and sticky in many inland cities too, with minimums staying between 20°C and 25°C in a number of provincial capitals.
Monday June 8

The week opens with temperatures already well above average across most of the country. Expect highs above 30°C across a wide swathe of Spain, climbing to around 35°C in Extremadura, the southern plateau and the Ebro Valley, with some isolated spots in central Spain pushing even higher.
Down in the Guadalquivir Valley, maximums could reach 37°C to 38°C. The north is the exception, where temperatures are broadly within normal ranges for this time of year, and some cloud and light rain is possible along the Cantabrian coast and into Galicia.
Tuesday June 9

A slight easing is on the way for northern Spain from Tuesday, as cooler air works its way into the northern third of the country, bringing temperatures back to more typical June levels, or even a touch below average near the Cantabrian coast.
For the rest of Spain though, it's business as usual. The south and centre remain firmly in the grip of the heat, with highs of 35°C across large parts of Andalucía and the interior, and the Guadalquivir Valley once again threatening to approach 40°C in places.
Rain continues to be possible in the far north and along the Pyrenees.
Wednesday June 10

The split between north and south becomes more defined as the week progresses. The northern regions continue to enjoy more comfortable temperatures and the rain gradually eases as more stable conditions develop ahead of the summer solstice.
Across central and southern Spain the heat holds firm, with little sign of any relief. Sunny skies dominate and temperatures remain well above what you'd normally expect for early June.
Thursday June 11

Much the same picture continues into Thursday. High temperatures persist across the centre and south, with the Guadalquivir Valley remaining one of the hottest spots in the country. The Cantabrian coast and the far north stay milder and more settled, with increasing sunshine as the week's earlier weather systems clear through.
For most of mainland Spain it'll be another hot, dry and largely cloudless day.
Looking ahead
The weekend could bring yet another step up in temperatures. A ridge of high pressure combined with a warm air mass looks set to push inland from Friday, potentially sending thermometers soaring across almost the entire country by the weekend.
