These are the towns with the most traffic accidents in Andalucía
The latest DGT data shows which towns saw the most accidents, hospitalisations and fatalities across Andalucía

New figures from the Spanish traffic authorities, the DGT, show how road accidents were spread across Andalucía in 2024. Overall, the region had 358 fatalities, 48 more than the previous year unfortunately.
Unsurprisingly, the two biggest cities, Sevilla and Málaga, had the highest numbers of accidents involving victims. Málaga reported 3,013 accidents and Sevilla 2,908. The next towns were much lower, with Granada at 491, Almería at 406, and Jerez at 390. Jaén and Sanlúcar each had over 300, while Marbella, El Puerto de Santa María, La Línea de la Concepción, and Cádiz each had more than 200 accidents. Eight other towns reported over 100 accidents, including Córdoba, Vélez-Málaga, Roquetas de Mar, Dos Hermanas, San Fernando, Mijas, Algeciras, and Fuengirola.
In total, 286 municipalities had accidents with victims, and 118 of those saw people taken to the hospital. Sevilla had 162 hospitalisations and Málaga 145, much higher than the other towns. Jerez followed with 34, Chiclana 24, Almería 22, and Jaén 21.
Fatal traffic accidents in Andalucía
When it comes to fatalities, 49 towns recorded deaths in city and town centres. Sevilla had 12, Málaga 10, and Almería and Granada eight each. Córdoba had five, Jerez four, and El Ejido and Sanlúcar three each. Ten other towns had two deaths each, including Cádiz, Jaén, Fuengirola, Marbella, and Vélez-Málaga.
Pedestrian deaths were highest in Almería, with four, while El Ejido, Granada, and Málaga each had three. Jerez, Córdoba, and Sevilla each had two pedestrian fatalities.
Motorbikes and mopeds were involved in the highest number of driver deaths. Sevilla recorded eight, Málaga six, Granada four, and Córdoba three. Cyclists were also affected, with three deaths in Almería, Jerez, and Fuengirola.
Andalucía is Spain’s largest region, so it’s perhaps not surprising that it tops the lists for accidents and hospitalisations. Even so, the region accounts for a significant share of the country’s road deaths. Fatalities have fallen slightly across Spain, but the number of fatalities in Andalucía is on the rise.
