Urgent search launched for missing British man in Benidorm
Family fear for the safety of the well-known expat last seen leaving hospital on Saturday morning
Family and friends are becoming increasingly worried about a British expat who vanished after discharging himself from a hospital in Benidorm over the weekend.
Pete Jackson, 54, walked out of IMED Hospital on Saturday morning and hasn't been seen or heard from since. The disappearance is completely out of character for the British man, who has lived and worked in the Costa Blanca resort for nearly three years.
His relatives say he was alert when he left the medical facility but was still on medication, and they're now concerned he may have become confused or lost his bearings. There are fears he could have had a fall or become disorientated trying to find his way home.
The last confirmed sighting of Pete was on the morning of Saturday February 7 when he left the hospital, and there have been no reports of anyone seeing him since.
He's roughly 5ft 10in tall with a slim frame and fair, curly hair. Pete has several tattoos that could help people identify him, including a candle and tulip on one arm, a turtle on the back of his leg and a shark.
People who know him say Pete lives a quiet but sociable life in Benidorm and is well regarded in the community. Friends and family paint a picture of someone who's friendly, cheerful and full of energy.
He's been married for almost 29 years and is said to be completely devoted to his family and closest friends.
The local British community has thrown its weight behind efforts to find him, with appeals being shared widely across social media and local groups in the hope that someone might have information about his whereabouts.
