Andalucía weekend weather forecast May 1–4: Rising heat, spring storms and Saharan dust

Warmer weather arriving for the start of May, though not without the odd shower or gusty breeze

As we head into the first weekend of May, Andalucía is seeing a shift towards warmer weather. After a cooler, windier spell last week, things are beginning to brighten up — but not without a few unsettled patches. There’s still the chance of spring showers, particularly inland, while coastal spots will enjoy sunnier spells and calmer conditions overall.

Temperatures start to climb, especially inland around Seville and Córdoba. Skies will be partly cloudy, with low cloud in the morning and the chance of a few light showers on the Atlantic side, especially near Huelva and Cádiz. Cloud will increase later in the day, bringing a risk of showers and a few rumbles of thunder in western areas. Some Saharan dust could lead to muddy rain by the evening. Winds will be light at first, picking up later from the east near the Strait and turning southerly in the west.

Eastern inland areas such as Granada and Jaén are likely to see heavier showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon, particularly over the hills. It will feel warmer along the Mediterranean coast, with cooler conditions elsewhere. Winds will stay light to moderate, mostly from the south in western areas and becoming westerly by the evening along the coast.

Saturday brings a mix of sun and showers. Much of the region should stay dry to start, but light to moderate rain may appear later, especially inland. There’s a chance of the odd thunderstorm cropping up too. Over in Almería, things are likely to stay brighter for longer, with just a few passing clouds. Winds will be generally light to moderate from the south.

Cloudier skies return, with some light rain expected on the Atlantic side. Tarifa and Cádiz may see stronger gusts as westerly winds freshen through the day. Winds will be moderate overall, picking up along the coasts and in mountain areas.

Overall, a classic spring weekend is in store — warming up, yes, but with a few showers and some lively skies to keep things interesting.
