House fire extinguished in Camposol
Fire brigade rush to Camposol to deal with house fire during the night
The 112 emergency services received a call on the night of December 19 and dispatched a fire crew to deal with a house fire that had occurred in the Camposol urbanisation.
Fortunately, there was no personal injuries and the fiighters extinguished the fire before it could spread to adjacent properties.
A reminder of common-sense precautions has been published by the Local Police and 112 Emergency services (translation below).
Heat Your Home Safely
Do not overload
Plugs Connect electric radiators or heaters to wall sockets with ground socket. Multi-volume strips are not usually prepared for these powers, they can overheat and cause a fire
Ensure ventilation
Gas fireplaces and stoves consume oxygen and emit carbon monoxide, which has no smell and can kill you. If you use these heating elements, leave the door open or a window slightly.
Turn off if you go out or if you are going to sleep
Anything with a flame needs constant supervision. A spark or a draft can start a fire, and when you wake up, it may be too late. If you leave the house or go to sleep, turn off the fireplace or stove.
Do not cover the radiators
Do not place clothing on radiators or heaters. Some fabrics do not need to be very hot to catch fire. This could cause a fire.
Keep everything that can burn away
Do not bring anything that can burn near the flames. Skirts, tablecloths should not touch portable heaters and special attention should be paid to the candles
Install a smoke detector
It is cheap and easy to install. When there is smoke it will sound an alarm. It can save your life and that of your family.
