International manhunt launched in Camposol double murder investigation

Detectives believe a Colombian national left Spain shortly after the killings and are now seeking his arrest

The investigation into the gruesome double murder at Camposol has taken another dramatic turn, with an international search launched for a Colombian man believed to have left Spain shortly after the killings.

At the same time, a key witness has failed to appear before the investigating judge despite being summoned to give evidence, adding another twist to one of the Region of Murcia's most shocking murder investigations.

The latest development centres on Leiton AA, who the Guardia Civil believes travelled back to Colombia on September 7, 2025, several months after the deaths of Ecuadorian nationals José Patricio Chango and Edwin Guillermo Cambal. Investigators have now asked Interpol to prioritise the international circulation of an arrest warrant in Colombia and other member countries.

According to court documents, officers have obtained travel records showing Leiton entered Spain in March 2025 before later leaving the country following the alleged murders.

Investigators believe he may have been present at the Camposol villa on the night the two men were killed. His name has reportedly surfaced in several witness statements, including evidence from a former prison cellmate of the main suspect, Carlos Andrés A. M., who claims Carlos confessed to carrying out the killings with a machete and referred to another man identified as Leiton being there.

The court is also waiting to hear from Carlos Andrés' partner, who failed to attend court after being summoned as a witness two weeks ago. Her testimony is considered significant because several witnesses have placed her at the villa on the night of the murders. One witness has even alleged she filmed the attack on her mobile phone, although that claim has yet to be tested in court.

The case centres on the disappearance of Chango and Cambal after they travelled to a property on the Camposol urbanisation in April 2025. Months later, Guardia Civil officers searching the villa discovered the men's dismembered bodies buried beneath earth and concrete in the basement.

Carlos Andrés remains the principal suspect as investigators continue trying to establish the role played by the other people linked to the property.

Meanwhile, fellow suspect Bayron AS remains in pre-trial detention. His defence continues to insist he was at his home in Alcantarilla with family on the night of the murders and has previously presented witness testimony and mobile phone analysis which, they argue, supports that account.

However, the investigating judge has so far ruled there is sufficient evidence for him to remain in custody while the inquiry continues.
