Major road repairs costing €25 million approved across the Region of Murcia

The four-year programme will cover the RM-15 motorway and dozens of regional roads across 15 Murcia municipalities

Drivers across the Region of Murcia can expect improvements to the RM-15 motorway and dozens of regional roads after the government approved a new €25 million maintenance programme covering 15 municipalities.

The work will be carried out over the next four years and includes routine maintenance, repairs and other improvements on 74 regional roads, as well as the entire 60-kilometre RM-15 motorway and its service roads.

One of the two contracts has already been awarded, with construction company Tecopsa taking responsibility for maintaining 31 roads across Bullas, Caravaca de la Cruz, Calasparra, Cehegín and Moratalla.

A second contract, worth almost €15.6 million, is expected to be formally awarded shortly. It covers the RM-15 and a further 43 roads running through Albudeite, Aledo, Alguazas, Alhama de Murcia, Campos del Río, Librilla, Mula, Pliego, Las Torres de Cotillas and Totana.

Together, the contracts will see maintenance carried out on almost 700 kilometres of roads, making it one of the Region's largest road upkeep programmes in recent years.

The regional government says the investment is designed to keep roads in good condition, improve safety and ensure the network remains fit for the thousands of motorists who use it every day.

Once the second contract is formally signed, both companies will have 48 months to complete the scheduled maintenance and repair work across the network.
