Netflix lands World Cup 2030 rights in Spain, with all 104 matches going live

The streaming giant will show every game in Spain and Andorra, while selected matches, including every Spain game and the final, will also be available on free-to-air television

Football fans in Spain have something new to look forward to for the 2030 World Cup, with Netflix announcing that it has secured the exclusive broadcasting rights to the tournament in Spain and Andorra.

The streaming platform plans to show all 104 matches live, marking a big change in how football's biggest international competition will be watched in Spain. Until now, Netflix has mainly offered sports documentaries and occasional live events here, rather than taking on an entire tournament of this size.

The news comes with four years to go until the competition arrives in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. The 2030 tournament will mark 100 years since the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930. Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will also host special matches to celebrate the centenary.

Will World Cup matches still be available for free in Spain?

The good news for football fans who don't want to pay for another subscription is that not every match will be behind Netflix's paywall. Under the agreement, one match from every round of fixtures will be available free of charge in Spain. Netflix will also offer a national free-to-air television channel a package covering every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final.

The broadcaster has not yet been announced, so viewers will have to wait to find out which channel will carry these games. The arrangement should, however, mean that some of the tournament's biggest matches remain accessible to people without a Netflix subscription.

For anyone wondering about the cost of watching the rest of the competition, there are no details yet about special subscription prices for the 2030 World Cup. During the 2026 tournament, DAZN offered access to all matches through a one-off €19.99 payment, but it's too early to know whether Netflix will introduce a similar deal.

A new direction for Netflix in Spain

The move represents a significant step into live sport for Netflix in the Spanish market. The company has previously streamed events such as a tennis exhibition featuring Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, alongside boxing and American football, but showing an entire men's World Cup is on a different scale.

Netflix says its coverage will include Spanish-language programmes before matches, at half-time and afterwards, as well as daily highlights on matchdays and other content in the run-up to the tournament.
Spain will enter the competition as the reigning world champions, adding another layer of excitement to a tournament being played partly on home soil.

With the full schedule available through one streaming platform and key matches also planned for free-to-air television, the main question for viewers now is how much it will cost to watch the action when the tournament finally kicks off in 2030.
