Stag do British pair arrested for unruly behaviour on flight to Alicante

Other passengers cheered as Guardia Civil officers hauled the offenders off the plane

Another flight to Alicante airport was marred by disruptive British passengers, in this case two men who were dragged off the plane and arrested by Guardia Civil officers after landing.

According to other passengers quoted by a UK tabloid newspaper, both men were with a stag party and already seemed to be drunk before they boarded the flight from Leeds-Bradford, where they were assessed by airport security to determine whether they were fit to fly.

One flyer claimed the pair were acting “rowdy and lairy” and annoying everybody else, and described the situation as “carnage”.

They allegedly became disruptive towards the end of the flight, leading cabin crew to call ahead for police assistance when they touched down, a spokesperson for Ryanair confirmed.

A video shows one of the men struggling with a Guardia Civil officer who is frog-marching him down the aisle towards the exit.

The man tries to resist and even seems to try and grab the officer’s neck before being forcibly ejected out of the door.

Other passengers can be heard cheering in support for the officers and hurling abuse at the disorderly pair.

The airline spokesperson commented: "Ryanair has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a respectful and stress-free environment, without unnecessary disruption.

"This is a matter for local police.”

Early this year, Ryanair repeated its call for European authorities to limit passengers at airports to two alcoholic drinks, in order to ensure safer and better behaviour on board.

No such restriction has been implemented and numerous incidents involving drunken passengers have occurred this summer, including a woman who made a bomb threat, someone peeing in the aisle and an aggressive man who forced an Alicante-bound flight to return to Leeds, amongst others.

But not every drunken passenger gets into trouble for being aggressive, such as the British couple arrested at Alicante airport for allegedly having sex in the airplane toilet.

The incidents are doing nothing to improve the bad reputation of Brits abroad, even though the vast majority of British passengers behave perfectly well on board and are just as annoyed by this sort of disruption as the airlines.

Shuttle bus connecting Corvera Airport with key destinations, launching May 2025
