International hunt for Brit accused of Magaluf hit-and-run
Man faces trial over 2023 incident that left two young tourists injured

Jack Benjamin Hulme, 31, was arrested following the incident on Thursday March 30, 2023, but was released on bail by a Spanish judge just 36 hours later. He has now failed to respond to repeated calls to appear in court, leading magistrates in Palma to declare him in contempt and issue the warrant.
Hulme is accused of driving into pedestrians on Calle Cala Blanca after a row outside a fast-food restaurant turned violent. According to court documents, the initial confrontation began when his girlfriend became involved in a dispute with another woman. The argument escalated, with men from both sides joining in.
Witnesses say Hulme left the scene after uttering threats, then allegedly returned moments later in a hired car. He is accused of deliberately mounting the pavement and ramming into people standing nearby.
One victim, a 20-year-old Polish woman, was knocked unconscious and thrown to the ground, while a 19-year-old British man was also struck. Video footage captured the chaos as terrified onlookers sprinted out of the way. Police later confirmed the injured had nothing to do with the earlier argument and were simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Emergency services rushed both victims to hospital for assessment, but miraculously neither suffered life-threatening injuries. Reports also confirmed Hulme had consumed alcohol and drugs that evening.
He now faces five charges including reckless driving and two counts of wounding, with prosecutors calling for a four-year prison sentence. His trial has been temporarily suspended until he is tracked down and extradited.
Hulme was originally detained at Son Matias beach after a police manhunt. During his first court appearance he is understood to have denied intending to hurt anyone, claiming his vision had been blurred after someone “sprayed him in the eyes with an aerosol.”
A spokesman for the Spanish police at the time said: “A British man who was on holiday in Majorca has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide following an early-hours hit-and-run incident in Magaluf.”
For now, Hulme remains on the run, with Spanish authorities appealing for public assistance in locating him.
