PAPS dog show in Los Alcázares raises 1,000 euros for rescue shelter
This was the first of what are expected to be many successful charity dog shows
At the Fun Dog Show event held by PAPS Dogs Rescue Shelter in Los Narejos, Los Alcázares on Sunday October 6, participants and volunteers came together to compete in a series of fun dog show categories and to raise all-important funds for the abandoned dogs at the shelter.
Hosted by La Zona Terraza bar, the dog show included categories such as ‘Waggiest tail’, ‘Fancy dress’ and ‘Most appealing eyes’. There was also a category just for the dogs that are ‘Up for adoption’.
PAPS raised a grand total of 818.99 euros on the day, with La Zona bar donating an additional 181.99 to bring the total up to a cool 1,000 euros. All the proceeds from the day will go towards the dogs in need at PAPS’s shelter.
This was the first dog show hosted by La Zona Terraza and the first for PAPS, and was an unmitigated success, and everybody who went along also enjoyed the live music in the evening.
As organiser Jacqui Thwaites said, the event was “exceptionally well attended and fun for all. With craft stalls, raffles and tombola there was something for everyone.”
If you wish to make a donation to PAPS, volunteer to help look after their dogs, adopt a dog or learn more about other upcoming events, contact them using the details below:

The Protectora Animales Perros del Sol (PAPS) is a rescue shelter and foundation to support abandoned dogs in the Costa Cálida area of southern Spain.
Based in El Mirador near San Javier, PAPS provides a safe and caring environment for abandoned or unwanted dogs whilst endeavouring to find them loving, permanent homes.
Established in 2010, over the years PAPS have helped thousands of dogs get the decent quality of life they deserve, largely thanks to the continued generosity of volunteers and supporters who lend their time and money to this worthy cause.
PAPS doesn't receive any funding from the local council and so rely on donations from the public to keep going. If you are able to make a monetary donation, any amount – large or small – is appreciated. With registered charity fiscal number G54504907, you can be sure that your money is going to a legitimate good cause.
Donations can be paid to Caixa Bank IBAN ES98 2100 8241 1102 0008 5418, BIC/SWIFT code CAIXESBBXXX, with the beneficiary 'Perros del Sol'.
As it is a Spanish account in euros, any payment made in GBP from the UK should be made by PayPal (select the option friends and family) to the email address animalesperrosdelsol@hotmail.com.
If you can't afford to make a monetary donation but still want to help, you can feel free to contact them about the possibility of dropping off dog food or doggy treats, or to volunteer your time walking and looking after the dogs.
Better yet, if you want to make a dog's life better permanently, you can adopt one of the pups at PAPS and give it the home it deserves!
Any help is greatly appreciated.
